Yesterday Revealed Redux: The Florida Keys: Hubris of Pretension
In the 70’s, I ‘Let my hair down’, spent the better part of that decade down in the Florida Keys.
Key West, Big Pine Key, Marathon. Key Largo… Kayaked and camped the Florida Keys National Wildlife Sanctuary, kayaked from Key Largo down to Key West 3 times (9 day 150-mile trip)
The Novel = I wondered what I was going to do when I retired from GM: It became a challenge to myself ‘could I write about my experiences down in the Keys’… over several years I wrote bits and pieces of my experiences. I use to write MANY reposts and ‘white paper’ at GM, all very technical stuff. I decided it was time to ‘color outside the line’ and write a novel: nearly half of this book I experienced. So, I decided to write this current book, then it became a trilogy, which I am presently about two thirds thru the second book and a quarter thru the third book. I LOVED the Keys, but sadly am no longer capable of doing what I use to.
Writing this book, at first, was just to see if I could coherently write a sentence, paragraph, chapter, 80,000 words, 360 plus pages and see if people would like it.
Independent reviews were very good. So here I am, FULL SPEED AHEAD!
This could be more than a trilogy, depending on how readership takes to the ‘Theme’
‘Theme’ – Yesterday Revealed is based on, most of what we do is predicated on what happened yesterday, or the day before, or last month/year etc. I try to mix present and past – meld it into a story. Like my Logo says ‘Reading is the best way to travel’
I TRY to mix Adventure, Intrigue, Mystery, History, Philosophy and Romance into hopefully a good read.
I could go on, but I’ll leave it at this for right now.

In this evocative text, author Kwiecinski introduces readers to Amy, Geo, Tucket, and Maryanne, who are out kayaking in Content Keys, an island in Monroe County, Florida. The four encounter three dead bodies and their beautiful trip is suddenly marred by this unforeseen tragic event. Geo, one of the kayakers, and an ex-Navy Seal makes an emergency call to the area lieutenant who in turn instructs, Suzy and Kip, two conservationist officers, to head down to West Island Key to secure the area. For Suzy and Kip, longtime lovebirds, this seems like an ordinary part of their job but they soon realize that something sinister is going on. Within no time, they become embroiled in a fast-spin labyrinth of the seedy business of Mexican drug cartels and illegal poaching. With more deaths, sudden kidnappings, and a corrupt councilman to reckon with, they move fast to flex their investigative muscles and catch those involved before things run out of hand. While not a high-octane murder mystery, Yesterday Revealed The Florida Keys: Hubris of Pretension is a solid story with plenty of twists, suspense, and intrigue. Kwiecinski is like a puppeteer pulling the strings of the reader’s imagination. The author leaves no stone unturned as he weaves invaluable historical and geographical background of Content Keys and ties this with an intricate plot and razor-sharp characters. The narrative has a contemporary feel making it perfect for modern times. The masterful transition of present and backstories is commendable. I particularly liked how the author introduces readers to the antagonists too, shedding light on their temperament, thoughts, and their next move culminating in a well-rounded plot. The dialogues too, are engaging and gives readers a sense of the characters’ different personalities, quirks, and views. At times, the author added some Latin words into the dialogues with translations alongside them, giving the text an authentic feel and believable quality.
